After looking into a number of yoga studios, I stumbled upon Sports Yoga Hawaii. After my first session, I was hooked! They offer everything that I was looking for in a yoga class.
For me, listening to good music is critical when working out. I’ve been doing Vinyasa yoga off and on for more than 10 years, and during that time, I have found only few instructors who played music that I liked (so nothing that includes the sitar, pan flute or wind chimes). Sports Yoga Hawaii’s music playlists feature a variety of mainstream music, which motivates and energizes me to work harder.
The pace of the workouts is intense. If your goal is only to meditate and relax, these classes are probably not for you. The blend of traditional yoga poses and other fitness exercises make for a challenging workout that leaves you feeling invigorated and refreshed.
Sports Yoga Hawaii’s small class size enables the instructor to provide personalized attention to each student and ensure that the poses are done correctly and safely for maximum benefit. After the first few weeks, I already began feeling better — and now after five months, I am stronger and healthier than I’ve been in a long time. – Jodi C.

I play soccer and try to keep active during the week. Unfortunately, I’ve always had lower back problems and a weak core; both which hinder my performance on and off the field. When I heard that yoga helps improve balance and strengthening your core, I wanted to try it out. During my first few sessions, I struggled quite a bit but it felt good to work out the muscles I never knew I had. I’m looking forward to continuing with Sports Yoga Hawaii and not only seeing results on the soccer field, but feeling better and stronger than before!

Sports Yoga Hawaiʻi is inventive and allowed me to experience yoga differently. Yoga is definitely not a feminine thing; after a few sessions, I could really notice the difference in my daily performance from waking up earlier and not having as much tension in my back. David is very personable and definitely makes you comfortable whether it be your first yoga session ever or if you are experienced. I also enjoy the smaller class sizes because there is a better opportunity for one-on-one assistance in your poses.

(Sorry No Photo)I try to stay as physically active as possible by playing basketball, baseball and golf. However, I was a little injury prone having multiple problems with ankle sprains, shoulder dislocations, hamstring and back strains. I needed to find a solution to keep me physically healthy so I could continue to enjoy playing sports. I was skeptical at first about trying yoga because it just seems like something women do at day spas. As soon as I tried Sports Yoga I could feel a difference in my body. I became more flexible, and my legs and core got stronger. As a result, I have better balance and control when making athletic moves such as jumps and cuts and I have not gotten injured since. I recommend that you give it a try and trust me; it’s not as easy as it may look. -Jonathan A. (he was a little camera shy)
Sports Yoga was a really nice change for me. I have had a lot of different types of yoga classes and most of them focused on spiritual and mental strengthening. While I do enjoy that, it was nice to experience a different focus with yoga. David’s approach to yoga is much fast pace, focuses alot more conditioning of muscles, and is more attentive to the parts of the body that are used the most during sports and athletic movements. David’s teaching method is consistent and directive which is really helpful to anyone starting sports yoga for the first time. I had a great time and my body has felt more in tune, flexible, and strengthened since. I think everyone should give it a shot! – Naomi C.

Thank you Sports Yoga Hawaii. Initially I was reluctant and skeptical as to the kind of workout could I really get without any weights or equipment. All that went out the window after my first session. It is not easy but after every session I felt stronger, more flexible and less restrictive in movement. Before Sports Yoga, I struggled to bend over to put my sox on or get a full turn with my golf swing. Now I am much more fluid and can turn on the ball with less effort. Some of the back aches I experienced after a round are non existent. I would recommend this for everyone, young and old. I like the smaller personalized classes which meet my level of physical capabilities and don’t make me feel intimidated. – Les M. (camera shy)
